Problems
Currently we have over 3,500 unhoused individuals in Davidson County (this includes 458 families—1,665 people)
The average time on the streets for an unhoused individual in Metro Nashville is nearly four years
Over 300 are between the ages of 18–24
Solutions
Increase funding for mental health/substance abuse services to support Metro Nashville’s homeless housing efforts
Additional shelter resources
Implement workforce development programs
Allowing Metro to utilize previously purchased “COVID PODS” for housing our unhoused population
Experience
Member on the Health and Educational Facilities Board of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, Tennessee, which creates more affordable housing options in Metro
Community involvement through various efforts such as volunteering at supply drives to support the needs of our unhoused population
Commitment
Fighting for mental health and substance abuse services for our unhoused population
Exploring ways to allow our unhoused population to reenter the workforce
Collaborating with Metro Nashville and state authorities to address this issue like the crisis that it is
Advocating for the passage of the transit referendum to address the lack of transportation some unhoused individuals face
