Tyler is a ninth generation Tennessean and grew up in West Tennessee in Decatur County. He moved to Nashville eight years ago in search of new opportunities, knowing that Nashville contained the pistons of the economic engine of Tennessee. Opportunity presented itself in the healthcare restructuring world, where Tyler has worked tirelessly to bring new life to financially distressed healthcare organizations. Tyler met his wife, Kelsey, a Knoxville native, in 2016, and they were married a few years later. Tyler and Kelsey moved to Donelson in District 60 in 2018 and quickly fell in love with the community. They live there with their daughter, two-year-old Millie, and dog, Bear, a thoroughly good boy. The Brashers attend church at The Village Chapel and consider their shared faith foundational to their lives.
Tyler attended Tennessee’s public schools in Decatur County, afterwards attending college at The University of Tennessee at Martin, a staple of West Tennessee higher education. He is the proud son of a public school teacher and a TDOT roadworker. While at UT Martin, Tyler received his bachelor’s degree in business administration, majoring in finance and minoring in accounting. After graduating, Tyler went to work for a regional senior care provider, headquartered in Parsons at the time. Starting out as a Staff Accountant performing financial statement close and data entry, Tyler was soon promoted to manage the treasury department. Subsequently, Tyler became the Financial Planner and Analyst for the organization before entering the restructuring industry and relocating to Nashville in 2016.
Tyler is a committed member of the Donelson-Hermitage community. Since planting roots in 2018, the Brashers have jumped headfirst into their community. Tyler initially became involved in the Donelson Hermitage Neighborhood Alliance, before representing Council District 15 on the community-led, county-wide 2023 Participatory Budgeting Steering Committee. From there, Tyler and Kelsey both became active in local elections and now serve together on the Donelson Hermitage Chamber of Commerce’s young professionals committee (“hYPe”). Tyler is also a participant in the L’Evate leadership program (formerly Leadership Donelson Hermitage), class of 2024. Most recently, Tyler was elected by a majority of the Metro Council to a six-year term on the Health and Educational Facilities Board of Metro Nashville.
Tyler is committed to serving his neighbors in Donelson, Hermitage, and Old Hickory. He is Known among Neighbors, and Equipped by Experience.
